Travel tips to get you on your way faster:
As always at this time of the year, we can expect to see an increase in wait times at the airport. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has some reminders and tips to help us move through the long lines at the airport security checkpoints as quickly as possible.
Passengers who are enrolled in TSA Pre-check move faster through the lines because they are not required to remove their shoes and belt, and may leave their laptops and small liquids in their carry-on bags.
Know what’s in your bags. If you avoid bringing prohibited items through security checkpoints, you will keep things moving for everyone.
Remove all items from your pockets and put them in your carry-on or in a bin at the checkpoint. Don’t wear large metal jewelry, or take it off at the checkpoint.
Listen to the instructions of the TSA officers as you move through the line. This can help you be prepared when you get to the checkpoint, so that everyone moves through efficiently.
Travelers with medical issues or disabilities should call the TSA Cares helpline before their trip to find out more about screening policies and procedures. It is recommended that you call at least 72 hours in advance.
Most importantly, be sure you arrive at the airport early enough to get your boarding pass, check your bags, and get through the checkpoint with plenty of time to get to your gate. This is made easier by using American City Express Car Service to get to the airport. You will be dropped off curbside, and be on your way without the stress of parking and figuring out how to get all your bags to the terminal.
The more you know, the more smoothly your trip through the airport will go.
