Edison New Jersey is the home of Edison State Park, which commemorates the site of Thomas Alva Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory. The Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park consists of the Art Deco Edison Memorial Tower and a small museum. Surrounding the museum is parkland with rolling woodlands that offers views of several ravines, a small pond, and a meadow. The museum has recently been renovated and has re-opened with new exhibits. car service Edison NJ

Edison came to this site in 1876, and he nicknamed his laboratory his “Invention Factory”. Edison invented over 600 new things in this laboratory; the incandescent electric light and the phonograph being two of his most famous inventions. The Thomas Edison Museum is currently housed in a small, two room building with a collection of early light bulbs, phonographs, dynamos (electric generators), and electric train tracks. The museum is located on Christie Street, which is the world’s first street lighted by electric lights.

A non-profit group plans to completely reinvent Menlo Park, in order to more appropriately honor Thomas Edison and his achievements. Currently the Edison Memorial Tower is being renovated. Future plans include a new museum, outdoor interpretive exhibits, and a rejuvenated 36-acre park involving the creation of an extended system of walking trails with interpretive signs and vantage points.
